What’s in the CAIJ’s Documented research questions section?

Last updated: 4 June 2025

The CAIJ provides you with a database of over 5,000 research questions, covering more than 50 areas of law.

These questions are an excellent starting point for your legal research. They are inspired by requests addressed to our Research Department or written by practicing lawyers in the relevant fields.

Each question offers a structured selection of relevant sources for documenting a given legal topic. These sources may include :

  • legislation (federal or provincial laws and regulations) ;
  • case law (court decisions available via the search engine) ;
  • doctrine (specialized books, websites, government publications, etc.);
  • cross-references to other related documented research questions.

The references are available in the CAIJ libraries or online, thanks to our agreements with various publishers. The database is regularly updated to reflect changes in the law.

Each sheet contains legislative, doctrinal and jurisprudential references, available in CAIJ libraries or online thanks to our agreements with various publishers.

This database is updated regularly and helps you structure an effective search, just as a researcher would.
