How can I obtain or replace my CAIJ card?

To obtain a CAIJ card, you must be a member of the CAIJ. CAIJ members include lawyers who are members of the Quebec Bar; judges; notaries, candidates for the notarial profession, and students pursuing a master’s degree in notarial law; paralegals who are members of the Canadian Association of Paralegals (CAP); students at the École du Barreau in Montreal, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, or Gatineau; students in the Civil Law Section of the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law; librarians, support staff, professors, and students at McGill University’s Faculty of Law.

If you are not a member, you cannot apply for a CAIJ card or a replacement card.

Requests to replace a lost, stolen, or damaged card can be made in several ways:

  • By clicking on your profile and then CAIJ Card in Espace CAIJ;
  • from CAIJ staff at one of the following libraries : Montréal, Laval, Longueuil, St-Jérôme, Sherbrooke, Gatineau, Québec;
  • by using the contact form via the Contact Us page.
