Management Team

CAIJ relies on the talent and expertise of its employees to offer quality service in its library network as well as online access to legal information in the most convenient and user-friendly way possible. The CAIJ team includes a variety of expertise organized around the following departments:

Nancy J. Trudel

Nancy J. Trudel, Executive Director

Mtre Nancy J. Trudel was appointed Executive Director of the CAIJ on April 1, 2016. She had previously been the Québec Bar’s registry Office Director for nearly a decade. In this capacity, she acted as registrar of the Roll of Order and secretary of various standing committees, in particular the Disciplinary Board and the Compensation Fund Committee. Mtre Trudel also managed projects related to the Québec Bar’s public protection services, such as the implementation of the Info-Barreau line and the member registration line.

Before her position at the Québec Bar, she worked in the private sector, in particular as a manager at a damage insurance brokerage firm and as a private-practice lawyer.

Mtre Trudel holds a law degree from Université de Montréal and has been a member of the Bar since 1997. In 2003, she earned a double degree in the Executive MBA program at the UQAM School of Management, in partnership with Université de Paris-Dauphine. She has been a member of the Ordre des administrateurs agréés du Québec since 2014.

Isabelle Pilon, Library Network, Collection Development, Research and Training Manager

Ms. Pilon has been Manager of the Library Network, Collection Development, Research and Training since February 2002. She has been employed in law libraries since the beginning of her career, working as an Information Scientist with the law firm Fasken Martineau and as Public Services Librarian for the Bar of Montréal, where she created the Research Service. She was subsequently named Librarian of the Bar of Montréal Library. She was actively involved in the founding of the organization acted as Interim Executive Director.

Ms. Pilon holds a Master's degree in library and information science from Université de Montréal, a Bachelor's degree in social science from Concordia University and a Certificate in law from Université de Montréal.


Chantal Lamarre, Acquisitions and Content Manager

Chantal Lamarre has been head of acquisitions and content at the CAIJ since October 2017. She is in charge of providing relevant and up-to-date content to meet CAIJ members’ needs.

Mtre Lamarre has worked in the field of legal publishing for over 25 years. Prior to her arrival at CAIJ, she was content director for Québec at LexisNexis Canada. From 2009 to 2016, she held various management positions at Irosoft, including project office director and sales manager for the LIMS product. Previously, Mtre Lamarre worked as a digital content manager for over 16 years at Thomson Reuters, in both Toronto (Carswell) and Montréal (Éditions Yvon Blais). During her practice in the legal department of the Société des alcools du Québec (SAQ), she created the first database of jurisprudence to meet the specific needs of her colleagues.

Mtre Lamarre holds a law degree from Université de Sherbrooke and has been a member of the Bar since 1990.


Dave Hinse, Information Technology Manager

Dave Hinse started as the Manager of Information Technology in september 2017 and is primarily responsible for managing all technological aspects of the CAIJ.

He is a technology executive with over 20 years of experience and a proven track record for driving growth in different types of companies (start-ups, small and large enterprises) in industries such as IT services, SaaS, cloud operations and software development.

Prior to joining the CAIJ, he was Executive Vice-President at Primonics, which was purchased by Securus Technologies from Dallas. Later he joined CloudOps as Director of Managed Services and Operations, and more recently he was Director of Software and Cloud at Baseline Telematics.
